In the drive towards net zero emission cargo bikes & trikes are becoming a vital link in the green transport chain as a sustainable alternative to the traditional delivery vans.
Zero emissions means a lower carbon footprint, helping towns and villages reduce pollution and at the same time lower traffic congestions.
Europe is a good example of where we are heading with cargo bikes. The German government actively supports a programme for electric cargo bicycles and micro transport depots in order to encourage their use as an alternative transport option. France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and others all have various subsidies to encourage the use of cargo bikes.
Helping companies and local councils to adopt eco-friendly logistics will relieve inner city (and village) transport and improve air quality. Cargo bikes & trikes can be taken on by logistics companies, councils, furniture and hardware stores (indeed anyone wanting to deliver goods) ensuring that the “last mile” of the delivery chain is emission free.
Whether it is a single bike or a fleet, there are a number of options you can choose from.
- Where you spread the cost over a period of time. This is a good option as the life span of the cargo bike is longer than your normal Hire Purchase contract so you can have clear title and continue using it after the contract ceases. The VAT on these contracts is payable upfront with the first rental payment
Like Hire Purchase you can spread the cost of the asset over a period of time. VAT is charged on the rental over the term of the Agreement. Title of the bike can be passed over upon the Agreement terminating for a nominal sum, or can simply be upgraded to a new model.
Suitable for commercial companies, giving you the flexibility to take on what you need and pay the supplier directly. These can be for terms of 1 to 3 years.
